New person (hopefully)

Postby Meredith » Wed Jun 08, 2016 12:27 am

Evening all,

My name is Joe, and I was hoping to turn up for By Schisms Rent Asunder.

However, as I am new to the group (and indeed LARPing in general) I figured it might be a good idea to introduce myself first, and check if I was doing things correctly.

So, as said I'm new to LARPing, but would very much like to try it, preferably as crew (at least to start with), and as such was wondering how I might go about signing up?

I have a fair amount of experience with table-top roleplaying and have had the benefit of a run-through of the combat system for No Rest (was very fun!), but am slightly concerned about things like costume/gear (don't have any).

Thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers,

Joe

Come crew!

If you can bring a base layer of all black/neutral colours with no trainers or jeans we can provide you with everything else.

I'm sure Yoda will pop up and link you to where you can sign up. Crewing is free but if you want food provided there is a very reasonable fee (£17 for the weekend I believe)

Any other questions just ask. Might be worth looking up our facebook page, it tends to be a bit more active than this forum.

https://tixty.co.uk/ is where you can buy a crew catering ticket for By Schism Rent Asunder. Plenty of spaces for crew, and people who are new to the hobby are welcome.

If you can provide yourself with a decent base layer (dark colours, no logos or designs if possible) then we can usually provide the rest. For By Schisms Rent Asunder, there are other things which may be useful, but mostly if you can provide yourself with a decent base layer that's all you need - we have weapons and costume for most things after that.

I'll add you to the secret crew forum for the event as well so you can see some of what is going on.

Thank you!

Dark colours will be pretty straightforward. Will have a think on footwear.

footwear is generally ok as long as its not blinding white trainers. hikingboots are great if you have them, as are piratey type boots.
tbh, the last thing people are going to look at is your feet. :) we'd rather have you in comfy shoes for running around in than stuff that looks good but gives you blisters.
looking forward to terrorising players with you!

I have black and grey trainers, if that would work?

Yes, it should be fun! Although I am rather expecting some of the players to terrorise us.

Well I can't speak for all the players but I don't terrorise ;)

Plain black/grey trainers will be fine, but I highly recommend a decent pair of combat boots if you decide to pick it up as a regular thing. :)
