Is this change effective immediately? It is very short notice and may affect our plans for what to purchase in downtime.

Unless otherwise stated, all changes are effective immediately. We are open to assisting with changes and rebuilds outside of the downtime window as we are aware this has happened close to the bar.

Yes, these changes are with immediate effect.

If you have concerns about downtime choices or xp spends please contact the st's. We are aware that these are very short notice changes and want to try and minimize the disruption they cause.. But, we feel they are essential for game balance.

Tbh, this is going to increase drug taking, not reduce it. I'll take it up over PM though.

Graeme, your point is noted - obviously we're still talking to you (as you're aware, but others are not) and you bring up valid points so this change may, uh, change.

The change to the Seneschal talent Emergency Supplies that made consumables last an encounter instead of a day is being rolled back as it was a linked change to the drugs and addiction changes that have been delayed until after Xanadu.

The other promised changes affect Seneschal talents. No more free stuff, or at least nowhere near as much.

Buy Now, Pay Later. (replacement for Supply Cache)
Throughout the event, you may purchase items or equipment worth up to 50WU from the character creation equipment rules and settle the bill during the downtime following the event, this may be done at any time by submitting a list to an ST (doing the paperwork afterwards is fine so long as it doesn't get forgotten). Select three from the following six categories from which you may draw items. Items bought in this way exist until used so can carry over to later events if not used immediately in the same way as normally purchased items.
Medical &Drugs. From appropriate list on items spreadsheet.
Ammo. From appropriate list on items spreadsheet.
Skill Items. Single use skill items +1 at 5WU, +2 at 10WU and +3 at 15WU, and skip one card options.
Explosives. From grenades, missiles and launcher grenades.
Components. For building improvised explosive devices and for bionic recharges.
Trade Goods. Appropriate trade goods for situation based on trade system (explicitly do not qualify for bulk clearance due to expiry)
Special rules may be in place for certain events and these will be explained beforehand. If the debt isn't covered during the downtime following the event the seneschal can expect severe repercussions and may find themselves unable to use the talent in future.
Upgrade: You may now have items or equipment worth up to a further 50 WU
Upgrade: You may now select items from any of the groups above freely.

Bulk Clearance Stock. (replacement for Emergency Supplies)
Prepared for anything the canny trader has seemingly bottomless pockets. The character has an additional 50 WU of credit to use when performing Buy Now, Pay Later, in addition they can get a good deal on bulk goods which are due to expire soon. By buying in bulk (blocks of ten) the character reduces the price of the items by 30%(exact figure tbc) but they expire at the end of the day.

Upgrade: You may now have items or equipment worth up to a further 100 WU
Upgrade: Items gained through bulk purchase now expire at the end of the event rather than the end of the day.

So, Tycoon...

I seem to recall asking whether it applies to everything covered under a given Method, i.e. all Skills, Assets and Influences applied to a given method, and got the answer that it only applied its bonus to Character Actions, i.e. Skills.
However, I cannot find that answer, either on the forums or in email conversations with the STs.

Having just been informed by another player that Tycoon does, in fact, apply to everything a character of your crew contributes within the method chosen, can I ask for a clarification on that?

Example Endeavour:

Discovery method (Tycoon 15%):
Lord Angstrom - Exploration 5 - 100 + 15% = 115 points
Lord Angstrom - Influence: Pirates (Void) - 80 + 15% = 92 points
Lord Angstrom - Exploration Team - 50 EP + 15% = 58 EP
Price of Freedom - 200 EP + 15% = 230 EP

Or would it only apply to my Character Action, and thus look like this:
Lord Angstrom - Exploration 5 - 100 + 15% = 115 points
Lord Angstrom - Influence: Pirates (Void) - 80 points
Lord Angstrom - Exploration Team - 50 EP
Price of Freedom - 200 EP

For this cycle, the following interpretation of Tycoon is in effect. After this cycle, we will be reviewing whether to expand its use.

"Once per downtime, you may choose an endeavour Method. All members of your group gain 15% more points for skills, talents, and personal/title influences for that method from endeavours they engage in during the downtime period. Ships, military units, and other assets do not receive a boost from Tycoon."
